In short, the current study is aimed to identify Libyan medical researchers' perspectives on using English and/or Arabic in writing medical research papers. It examines at the issue of language choice, the perceived advantages and difficulties being experienced as a result of selecting one or the other language. The findings of the study reveal that all the participants selected English language for writing their research papers. This helps in gaining international recognition for their works, and more readership. Moreover, their study background in English makes it easier for them to read in English than Arabic. The implications of the study are discussed and presented. During the 21st century, EFL teachers' adherence and commitment to ethical and professional standards are fundamental for succeeding in their careers. This study investigates 58 Libyan EFL university instructors' awareness and commitment to these standards. The data was collected through an online close-ended questionnaire. The results indicate that Libyan universities have no written ethical codes of teaching practice and do not account for the instructor's commitment to these codes. Nevertheless, the participants practiced some professional ethical behaviors according to their personal morals, values, and principles. There is a need for developing a consistent ethical code for the profession of teaching English as a foreign language in the Libyan context and maybe in other FL contexts. This study aims to find out the understudy Libyan students' perceptions towards the traditional examinations as a method of assessment. In doing so, the study employed a quantitative design with a close-ended questionnaire to obtain the data required for the study. The data was then analyzed manually. The main findings indicate that the study's participants perceive the current examination system as unfair, invalid, unreliable and outdated. They also think that the current system is inadequate for assessing them as it mainly encourages students to memorize information rather than retaining it. The study concludes with some recommendations and pedagogical implications to improve the existing assessment system in the context of the study. Tue, 01 Sep 2020 00:00:00 GMT http://dspace-su.server.ly:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1111 2020-09-01T00:00:00Z http://dspace-su.server.ly:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1109 الفـضـاء الــرِّوائـي وتـجـلّـيـاتـه في رواية حديث الجنود لأيمن العتوم عبد العزيز, د. سعد عمر تنوّعت التقنيات الفنية التي مرّت بها الرواية عبر تاريخها، فسعى الكُتَّاب في بداية الأمر إلى محاكاة الواقع، والحرص على نقله بكل تفاصيله، وصاحب ذلك توظيف التقنيات البنائية التي تساعد في الإيهام بواقعية الحدث، وبواقعية الفضاء الذي يحتضنه، والزمن الذي يؤطره، والشخصيات التي تشغله؛ لذلك سعى كُتَّاب الرواية التقليدية إلى حشد كل الطاقات الفنية التي تُسهم في نقل كل جزئيات وملامح الفضاء الروائي الذي يحتضن الأحداث، يقيناً منهم أنّ هذه العناصر هي من مكملات الحدث، وهي من تُسهم في نضج العمل الفني واكتماله، غير أنّ هذا الأمر لم يدم على هذا النحو، فتغيّرت تقنيات الرواية الحداثية، وأصبح الفضاء الروائي في معظم الأحيان عبارة عن شذرات وأشتات مبعثرة بين جزئيات المتن الروائي، وأصبح القارئ عاجزاً عن لمِّ هذه الجزئيات وتكوين صورة واضحة تعينه على تخيّل المسرح الذي تجري به الأحداث. وهناك من ضمن كتّاب الرواية الحديثة من اتخذ منهجية وسطى بين الرواية التقليدية والحداثية؛ فتجاوز النمط التقليدي الذي يسعى إلى التجسيد، وفي المقابل سعى إلى تحاشي النمط الحداثي الذي تَغْلبُ عليه الضبابية والتعتيم، فجاء البناء الفني بين هذا وذاك، ومن بين هذا النوع ما تمثله رواية حديث الجنود للكاتب الروائي أيمن العتوم، التي نحن بصدد دراسة فضائها الروائي، ونهدف من وراء هذه الدراسة إلى الوقوف على هذا النمط، ومدى توفيق الروائي في توظيف تقنياته الفنية، وقدرته على رسم مسرحه الروائي، وإمكاناته في شحن جزئيات هذا الفضاء دلالياً، هذا وسيعتمد البحث المنهج البنيوي باعتباره المنهج الذي يمثل فاعلية في دراسة تقنيات السرد، أضف إلى ذلك توظيف تقنية التقاطبات الضدية التي مثلت كفاءة إجرائية عالية في توزيع الأمكنة والأمكنة المضادة وتسهيل دراستها، ثمَّ مقاربة هذه الأمكنة دلالياً باستخدام المنهج السيميائي.
