Abstract

Abstract Through this research paper, we aim to highlight the role of sustainable agriculture in achieving food security in light of current environmental challenges, particularly in desert areas. The Sahrawi refugees in the Tindouf camps suffer from a lack of food security and rely almost entirely on humanitarian aid, in addition to the harsh climatic and environmental conditions. By studying the case of the "H2Grow" project implemented by the World Food Program (WFP), it becomes evident that adopting sustainable and simple agricultural techniques, such as hydroponics, can increase food security rates and reduce the prevalence of malnutrition among the refugees. This study concludes that scaling up, supporting, and funding such projects is a strategic necessity for achieving food security in similar environments.
